Pakistan News: A district court in Lahore on Saturday (July 22) declared Moonis Elahi, son of PTI chairman Pervez Elahi, a proclaimed offender in connection with a money laundering case. Moonis is currently living in Spain.
The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) had pleaded to declare Elahi a proclaimed offender for not appearing before the probe agency even after a non-bailable arrest warrant was issued against him. The court has also initiated the process of confiscation of their properties, identity cards, passports and bank accounts.
Case registered against Parvez Elahi and son Moonis
Last month, the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) registered a case against Parvez Elahi and his son Moonis for alleged money laundering in the Panama scam. The case against Parvez and Moonis includes charges of fraud, money laundering and corruption. It is alleged that the father-son duo hid billions of rupees in five Panama-based companies, using apparent money laundering techniques by Parvez Elahi to acquire these companies.

A video of Elahi’s arrest then also went viral, in which it was seen that Elahi was trying to escape during the arrest. His bail was rejected in a corruption case. His party had termed Elahi’s arrest as shameful. Also targeted the government.
