Deodhar Trophy Points Table: Deodhar Trophy, the prestigious domestic List-A tournament of Indian cricket, started in Puducherry from 24 July. A total of 3 matches were played on the first day of the tournament, in which South Zone team won against North Zone by 185 runs according to VJD rules and secured first place in points table according to better net runrate. In the other two matches on the first day, West Zone won the match against North East by 9 wickets while East won the match against Central Zone by 6 wickets.
South Zone scored 303 runs against North Zone at the loss of 8 wickets in 50 overs. In this, Captain Mayank Agarwal played an excellent inning of 64 while Kunnumal scored 72 and Narayan Jagadishan scored 72 runs with the bat. In response, the North Zone team was reduced to scoring only 60 runs in 23 overs despite rain interruptions. Vidwat Kaverappa took 5 wickets while Vijaykumar Vaishak took 2 wickets while Washuki Kaushik, R Sai Kishore and Washington Sundar took 1-1 wickets in bowling from South Zone.
Talking about the West Zone match, they won their first match against North East Zone by 9 wickets. In this match, the North East team was reduced to scoring only 207 runs in 47 overs. After this, the team achieved this target in just 25.1 overs on the basis of Captain Priyank Panchal’s unbeaten 99 and Harvid Desai’s innings of 85 runs.
East Zone team third in points table
In the points table of Deodhar Trophy 2023, at present the East Zone team is at the third position with 4 points. The net runrate of the team is 0.365. Talking about the position of other teams, the Central Zone team is fourth while the North East and North Zone teams are at the last 2 places. Now in the Deodhar Trophy, on July 26, North will compete with Central, West with South and East with North East team.
