Call sent to cyber cell
According to the report of Hindustan Times, a police officer on the condition of anonymity said that a phone has been seized and it has been sent to the cyber cell. We are pretty sure that this is the same phone from which the video was recorded.
The six arrested accused are being interrogated by the police to identify the others involved in the incident. On May 4, two women were paraded naked by a mob in Kangpokpi district. The video of the incident went viral on July 19, more than two months later, leading to protests across the country. After this, on July 20, the police made the first arrest in the case.
Officer said – violence increased due to rumors
More than 160 people have died in the ethnic violence that broke out in Manipur since May 3. According to PTI, officials of various security agencies monitoring the situation in the state say that the violence was largely fueled by rumors and fake news.
According to officials, a horrifying incident of May 4 involving two women being paraded naked was also a result of a rumor, which happened after photographs of a woman’s body wrapped in polythene surfaced on social media. A false claim was made regarding this photograph that the victim was murdered by tribals in Churachandpur. In this regard, an official said that it was later learned that the picture was of a woman murdered in the national capital, but by that time violence had erupted in the Valley and what was seen the next day had put humanity to shame.
