Manipur Women Parade: Violence continues in Manipur. The Manipur Police on Saturday (July 22) arrested the sixth accused in the case of parading two women naked in the state. Police told that the sixth boy is a teenager.
The Manipur Police tweeted and claimed that it is constantly trying to arrest the remaining accused. We are continuously conducting raids regarding this. Today itself the fifth accused was also arrested by the police.
News agency PTI quoted the police as saying that the fifth accused has been identified as a 19-year-old youth. On May 4, the four accused arrested in the case of parading two women naked in Manipur were sent to police custody for 11 days on Friday (July 21).
The house of the main accused was burnt
Hours after the arrest of the main accused, the mob set his house on fire. According to the police, in the video, the main accused is clearly seen instigating the crowd at Bi Phenom village in Kangpokpi district.
He told that one of the two women with whom this shameful incident took place, is the wife of an ex-Indian Army soldier, who had served as a Subedar in the Assam Regiment and had also participated in the Kargil War. A complaint was lodged on June 21 at the Saikul police station in Kangpokpi district regarding the video related to the incident.

What is the matter?
PTI quoted the FIR in the case as saying that the mob had killed a man on May 4, who had tried to stop some people from raping his sister. According to the FIR, the two women were then paraded naked and sexually assaulted in front of other people.
More than 150 people have died in the violence that broke out in Manipur after the ‘Tribal Solidarity March’ was organized on May 3 to protest against the Meitei community’s demand for Scheduled Tribe status.
