NIA Raids: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Saturday (July 22) raided the house of an absconding accused in the Hizbul Mujahideen terror conspiracy case. The accused has been identified as Riyaz Ahmed alias Hazari, a resident of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir. Officials said that the Special Investigation Unit of the police and the NIA raided Riyaz’s house in Marwah area of the district.
He said that this action has been taken under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act. NIA has announced a cash reward of Rs 3 lakh to the person giving information about Riyaz Ahmed. The agency has seized a mobile phone during the raid which is being probed. This case was initially registered on 12 September 2018 by ATS Lucknow. After this, on September 24, 2018, the NIA took over the investigation by registering a case.
An accused was killed in 2019
The case pertains to the criminal conspiracy against Kamruk Zaman and others to carry out terrorist attacks in UP and other parts of the country. A charge sheet was filed against Kamrun and an absconding accused Osama bin Javed on 11 March 2019 in NIA Special Court Lucknow under various sections of IPC and Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Osama was killed in an encounter with security forces on 28 September 2019.

Investigation has revealed that accused Kamruz Zaman was radicalized by Osama bin Javed to join Hizbul Mujahideen and both were trained by the terrorist organization for nine months. The absconding accused Riyaz Ahmed, an active terrorist and District Deputy Commander of Hizbul Mujahideen, along with his co-accused Mohammad Amin alias Jahangir Saroori, was involved in the recruitment and training of accused Kamrun Zaman and Osama Bin Javed in the forests of Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir.
